Registration closes 27 days prior to any election, except in the office of the election authority. A person, who:

• resides within the City of Rockford,
• will be 18 years of age or older by Election Day, and
• is a citizen of the United States,

may come to the Election Office at 301 S. 6th Street, to register, change a name or change an address, from 26 days to 14 days before an election.

Persons who register or make a change during this grace period and wish to vote at the upcoming election must do so the same day in the Election Office.  Grace period registrants may not vote at the polls.
