Registration closes 27 days
prior to any election, to vote at the polls. You may make a change of address, change of name or register as a new voter in the office of the
election authority from 26 days through 7 days prior to an election, however, if you wish to vote in the upcoming election you must vote the day you register. Qualifications for registration are:
- you must be a resident of your precinct within Rockford for 30 days by the date of the election,
- you must be 18 years of age or older by Election Day, and
- you must be a citizen of the United States.
You may come
to the Election Office at 301 S. 6th Street, to register,
change a name or change an address, from 26 days (October 6, 2010) through
7 days (October 26, 2010) before an election.
Persons
who register or make a change during this grace period
and wish to vote at the upcoming election must do
so the day of registration in the Election Office. Grace
period registrants may not vote at the polls, even if they decided not to vote the day in which they made a change of address, change of name or registered as a new voter duricg grace period.
