Registration closes 27 days prior to any election, except in the office of the election authority. To register to vote you must be:

• a resident of your precinct within Rockford for 30 days by the date of the election,
• 18 years of age or older by Election Day, and
• a citizen of the United States.

You may come to the Election Office at 301 S. 6th Street, to register, change a name or change an address, from 26 days (October 6, 2010) through 7 days (October 26, 2010) before an election.

Persons who register or make a change during this grace period and wish to vote at the upcoming election must do so during this period in the Election Office.  Grace period registrants may not vote at the polls, even if they decided not to vote during the grace period.
